It doesn’t take much persuasion for us to indulge in a spot of afternoon tea. So after the successful launch of Barristers Restaurant and Bar at The Courthouse Hotel, Knutsford, as official PR partners for this luxury Cheshire venue, we decided to celebrate National Afternoon Tea Week with an exclusive blogger’s event.

To launch the quintessentially British custom of afternoon tea at The Courthouse, we invited a select few foodie bloggers and afternoon tea enthusiasts to join us for a true taste of Cheshire.

Having opened its doors in July, The Courthouse now serves an incredible selection of afternoon tea to suit everyone; from traditional cream tea to a glass of Perrier Jouet Grand Brut or a perfectly paired Rose Bubble cocktail.

On arrival, we introduced our guests to Dominic Heywood, co-founder of The Courthouse who educated us on the history, renovations and exciting future plans for the hotel before we headed to our elegantly-dressed table for a refreshing Slow Gin cocktail infused with loose-leaf tea.

Tea From The Manor owner, James was on hand to give the bloggers a lesson in the history of tea and an insight into his impressive selection of flavoured teas; from honey and passion fruit, guava and mango, to a very delicious gunpowder tea!

Afternoon Tea was then presented on a beautiful three tiered vintage stand. The classic finger sandwiches included cheese and pickle, egg and cress, ham and tomato and the classic, Marie-rose prawn. In true Flat Cap Hotels style, presentation was high on the agenda, creating a feast on the eyes and several Instagram-worthy photo opportunities for our bloggers.

The topic of conversation quickly moved onto the intricately placed sweets on the first and second tier. The blogger’s favourite was quickly decided; the salted caramel éclair, closely followed by the fresh scone served with fresh strawberries and preserves.

As regular visitors to The Courthouse following the launch in July, we were only too happy to showcase the unique architecture, elegant features and divine dining delights of talented Executive Chef, Steven Tuke (meet him here).
