To celebrate National Afternoon Tea Week, The Courthouse is delighted to announce the launch of its quintessentially British, Afternoon Tea menu at Barristers Restaurant & Bar in the Cheshire town of Knutsford.
Perfect for any occasion, the menu is served with a choice of loose-leaf tea provided by Tea from the Manor, Jaunty Goat Arabica Coffee or a glass of Perrier Jouet Grand Brut. Guests can also choose one of The Courthouse’s signature cocktails to accompany their afternoon treats such as a Rose Bubble Cocktail; a refreshing blend of rose petal liquor, lavender and prosecco.
The former Knutsford Crown Courts offers the perfect atmospheric location for an elegant yet indulgent afternoon tea. Built in 1818 by famed architect George Moneypenny, the dramatic original features such as the show-stopping dome, enormous windows and detailed ceilings still remain. Guests can take in the stunning architecture whilst enjoying a selection of sumptuous finger sandwiches and fruit scones with preserves and clotted cream, accompanied by the chef’s choice of freshly made cakes and patisseries.
Executive Chef, Steven Tuke leads the kitchen with an experienced and passionate team, championing locally sourced British produce and seasonal menus. The 90 cover Barristers Restaurant & Bar plays host to portraits of eight famous past convicts to commemorate the previous role of the property including Marilyn Monroe, Steve McQueen, Sirius Black and Elvis Presley. Flat Cap Hotels commissioned Knutsford based Vermilion Studios to create the artwork, designed by local artist James Blankhorn.
The unique Rooftop Gardens will open in the coming months, a stunning 100 capacity cocktail and Champagne bar filled with botanical herbs, a Chef’s garden and seasonal flowers. Before the end of the year, 10 luxury bedrooms will be available in the wings of the building, with a further 40 bedrooms being added at the rear of the site in 2018.
Afternoon tea starts from £7.95 for a traditional Cream tea. Guests can also sip on a glass of Perrier Jouet Grand Brut alongside Loose-leaf tea or Jaunty Goat Arabica coffee for £26.95. Menus include macarons, fruit scones, clotted cream, preserves and a selection of finger sandwiches alongside sponge cakes and lovingly made deserts.
