Here at Perception HQ we love afternoon tea – the sense of occasion, delicious dainty sandwiches, divine pastries and a really light scone with proper jam….and maybe lashings of cream too! Have a look at our views on afternoon tea etiquette

Recently, Barristers Restaurant at The Courthouse in Knutsford has been creating a new savoury afternoon tea to launch on Mother’s Day. It may not feel like spring today but it is just around the corner and soon there’ll be a savoury option available at Barristers for those who want to indulge their not so sweet tooth!

As a sneak preview of the launch we’re getting together a small group of bloggers to visit The Courthouse on Saturday 10th March to sample this new afternoon tea. There’ll be a sweet option to enjoy but we’d love to hear feedback on the new savoury afternoon tea. There’s Guinness and beef doughnuts, scotch eggs, potted shrimp open sandwiches, minted lamb pasties, black pudding sausage rolls to name a few of the savoury treats on offer.

The Courthouse is well known locally, it’s an iconic building and the Grade II listed property was Knutsford Crown Court, known in Cheshire as the Sessions House. It was used by The Ministry of Defence before it was closed and all proceedings moved to Crewe. In March 1952 Alan Turing was on trial at the Sessions House.

After remaining derelict for seven years, Cheshire company Flat Cap Hotels, embarked on a sensitive transformation of the building, restoring the stunning original architecture. Barristers Restaurant & Bar is the first of a phase of launches, focusing on serving British seasonal menus. The dishes are playful and inventive, focused on taste.

Later this year 10 bedrooms will open at The Courthouse, along with a new Rooftop Champagne Bar and Gardens. There’s also event space at The Courthouse, The Court Room comfortably accommodates up to 300 people for a dinner, fashion show or party and the MoneyPenny Suite is located just next door, perfect for pre-dinner drinks, civil ceremonies and meetings.

To register your interest to join the blogger afternoon tea email Cath on hello@weareperception or call Perception on 0845 293 2552. It will be a fun afternoon and we’re looking forward to indulging!

Notes to Editors:

The Courthouse is part of Flat Cap Hotels, a family run hotel group, founded by brothers Oliver and Dominic Heywood in 2015. The Courthouse is located in Knutsford, Cheshire and launched in June 2017.

The property opened with Barristers Restaurant and Bar serving premium British seasonal menus, smoothies, cocktails, bespoke tea’s and coffee’s as well as their very own Barristers lager and craft beers.

The Court Room has now been converted into one of the largest ballrooms in South Cheshire ideal for large events, exhibitions, weddings and conferences with a banqueting capacity for 250 to 300 guests.

The Rooftop Gardens is set to launch in 2018 as a cocktail and champagne bar and 10 luxury bedrooms will also be available in the spring. An additional 40 bedrooms will be added at the rear of the building in 2019.

Ten minutes from Knutsford is the group’s sister property; The Vicarage Freehouse & Rooms. A 26 bedroom countryside hotel, pub and restaurant at Holmes Chapel, the hotel was recently included in the Times & Sunday Times “Top 30 best pubs to visit this summer”.
