Le Saint James Hotel is situated in the village of Bouliac, just outside Bordeaux and is an art-lovers paradise. The new art exhibition – Manimal by Rimp – at Le Saint James from 25 October to 31 December provides yet another great excuse to hop board a plane to Bordeaux for culture, fine wine, Michelin star food and some R&R.
Le Saint James regularly features the works of renowned artists in an art gallery experience within luxurious surroundings.
What’s more, culture vultures can also enjoy the hotel’s citrus gardens, which are full of original sculptures. There are large collections of contemporary art in Bordeaux at the FRAC Aquitaine collection and CAPC museum, which is located in an old warehouse with stunning architecture and many other galleries and artists workshops scattered throughout the streets of the vibrant city of Bordeaux.
Manimal by Rimp
Born in Cannes in 1980, Rimp has been drawing since he was four. He now lives in Lyons and since 2011, has devoted himself to the development of his artistic projects.
It is Rimp’s view that, in western societies, man has extracted himself from nature and is now dominant. He therefore reintegrates us back into nature, combining the two worlds together, through art, inspired by the cultures and the different representations that man makes of the world around him, such as animism and totemism.
He has an interest in Cubism and Surrealism and artists such as Braque and Picasso have strongly influenced his approach, as well as other contemporaries from the urban scene like Keith Haring.
Rimp’s work focuses mainly on the human figure, seat of identity, senses, reason, consciousness and the unconscious. It is the part of the body that has always fascinated him; he associates it with the mask, with its power and with its function of transition, of transformation.
