Jamie-Taylor-Jurys-Inn-Hinckley-Island-e1499848169270 Perception Meets | Jamie Taylor, Jurys InnHere at Perception HQ, we’re a sociable bunch, so we don’t need too much excuse to have a coffee and a catch up with our lovely clients. We enjoyed a black coffee (two sugars) with Jamie Taylor, Director of Business Development at Jurys Inn Hinckley Island Hotel and Conference Venue…

Where It All Began…

Jamie began his early career as a hotel chef, moving on to become Trainee Manager with Mount Charlotte Hotels and later, booking hotels as a representative for Expotel before joining the world of hotel sales.  So, it seems hospitality has always been his destiny.

“Cut me in half and like a stick of rock – it would read ‘Hotels’.”

Jamie loves the variety of relationships that come with working in the MICE sector, from establishing new business partnerships to maintaining long-standing connections with events professionals throughout the UK.

“For me, it’s all about building relationships. Whether that’s with industry colleagues, agents or  potential new partners. Strengthening that relationship is key.”

Life In The MICE Sector…

A true MICE professional, Jamie’s attention to detail ensures that event planners have all of the information required when seeking the perfect venue for an event. It’s this dedication to detail that has allowed Jurys Inn Hinckley Island Hotel and Conference Venue host some of the most prestigious business events in Leicestershire. For Jamie, it’s all about first rate communication and complete honesty. This open approach to relationship building ensures Jamie welcomes back repeat business on a regular basis.

“I love seeing an event take shape, that all started with the cold call.  It’s great when you see it from start to end.”

Jamie’s career has allowed him to travel to some amazing destinations throughout Europe. Whilst working for a travel agency, he admits to gaining 3 stones eating and drinking his way around Europe, during which time he stayed at some spectacular places.  His travel experience gives him an eye for quality, service and trends for meetings and events.

“An event space can be a tent in a field, but with the correct dressing it can look amazing. There will always be the clients that have to curtail spend, but when the budget is there, some of the transformations that you see are simply, breathtaking.”

For those considering a career in the evolving meeting and events sector, Jamie’s background shows that when you have a passion for what you do, you’ll naturally grow with your industry.

“Go for it, you meet amazing people. Yes there can be longer hours than some other careers and industries, but the rewards and experiences far outweigh the tired eye.”

What Lies Ahead?

Jamie has great plans for the future of Jurys Inn Hinckley Island Hotel and Conference Venue, which has just undergone an impressive transformation including newly designed meeting spaces and a modern training suite. This transformation aligns the venue with the need to stay up-to-date with modern event technologies, so it’s no surprise to see super fast WiFi and cutting-edge AV equipment. Jamie plans to make Jurys Inn Hinckley Island the number one venue of choice in the Midlands.

“I am a strong believer of ‘the more you put in, the more you get out’”

We couldn’t agree more.
