Planning a business conference can be a daunting task. No-one wants to spend weeks planning to hear the words, “Worst. Conference. Ever. I got absolutely nothing out of it.”

Conference attendees need an experience, rather than a lecture. They want to be educated, motivated, well-connected and share objectives with their fellow delegates. So you’ll want them to leave feeling re- fueled, positive and ready to take on the world with fresh ideas.

I’ve outlined a few tips on how to make your conference stand out from the crowd…

The Speaker

Conferences are about the people. Interaction, ideas, inspiration and thought leadership.  So, when it comes to selecting your speakers, ensure they are relevant to the topic of the day, and sure to inspire your delegates.

Food For Thought

You most definitely don’t want your delegates stomachs rumbling over the sound of your presentation!

Is the food varied and plentiful? Is there enough tea and coffee? Will you offer Champagne on arrival?  Ensure the day is planned out so that your delegates are kept well fed and watered, with plenty of time to enjoy their food. (Take a look at our tips on creative catering here). If you’re still in two minds as to whether a casual buffet or sit down dinner is most appropriate, speak to our team about the venues we represent and we’ll be happy to look at capacity and layouts for you.

Small Details

Aside from the value delegates take away from the day, the small details and personal touches are what leave a lasting impression.

I like having ‘cool stuff’ to play with, (Fidget spinners are trending right now and are supposedly great for keeping ‘focused’) Give your guests some branded merchandise to enjoy, and they’ll also take away something to remember your brand… two birds, one goodie bag!

The Wow Factor

If you’re planning to inspire, do it in stunning surroundings! Oddfellows On The Park is pretty mesmerizing …

The Parlor Rooms sit parkside with French doors leading to a beautiful terrace overlooking the glorious Bruntwood Park. These dramatic rooms are individually designed with stunning light fixtures and decor, perfect for corporate conferences and meetings for up to 60 guests.  For larger events of up to 80, add on use of The Parlor Bar, home to a beautiful hexagon shaped bar that sits in front of double aspect windows filling the room with light. Perfect for drinks receptions when paired with The Parlor Rooms or for intimate private dining when used alone.

Feedback! Repeat success, not failure.

Give people an incentive to tell you what they think. Find out what you can do better with the next event. By taking your guests’ feedback on board, you can perfect your hosting skills, and expect familiar faces at future events.
